Most organizations do not fail at AI because they lack a policy. They fail because the policy never reaches the systems, the teams, or the decisions it was written to govern. My practice starts at the other end: what a system actually does, who it affects, and what evidence exists when a regulator, a customer, or a board asks.
That work takes a few forms. I advise executive teams on where artificial intelligence creates enterprise value and which systems deserve priority. I build the controls, workflows, and oversight structures that make those systems defensible once they are live. And I step into fractional leadership when an organization needs strategic depth alongside someone accountable for execution.
Before the governance work, I shipped software and infrastructure. That experience shapes how I write policy: if a control cannot be implemented by the team that has to live with it, it is not a control, it is a wish.

Alongside client work I teach and publish. I co-developed the country’s first AI Privacy Engineering course at the Georgia Institute of Technology, and wrote Governing Intelligence, a 488-page open-access textbook on law, privacy, security, and compliance in the age of artificial intelligence. It is free because the people who most need it are rarely the ones with a research budget.
My newest practitioner resource, The AI Governance Practitioner’s Manual, translates that architecture into role-specific guidance, tools, templates, and regulatory references across 46 chapters.
